In June 2006 we took over The Old School in St James Street, Wednesbury for a four-week period and transformed it for our site-specific theatre and dance production, Apna Ghar.

The project began in January 2006 gathering stories from South Asian women. Women from the community were trained in oral history recording techniques, equipped with minidisk recorders and microphones and let loose. They talked to family and friends about their lives, the world around them and what "home" means to them.

These recorded interviews were our starting point to create this new production in which we sought to reflect the richness, experience and the spirit of these remarkable women.
