Black Country – Green Country – Stiperstones Ambassadors

Posted on: 10-19-2010 Posted in: BLack Country Green Country, Black Country Touring Projects

Community Action Project in Cape Hill, Smethwick and Stiperstones school and community in Shropshire are comparing and contrasting the various experiences of urban and rural tradition, culture and lifestyles. This has included the first  exchange visit, with more participatory workshops and live performances to follow.

Here are my thoughts after the Smethwick Ambassadors visit to the Stiperstone Ambassadors in Shropshire on the 30th September and the follow up meeting with the Stiperstone Ambassadors on the 18th October.

19th October 2010:

‘Yesterday night saw the Stiperstones ambassadors in the pub rehearsing  an original song with actions as part of our presentation to the  Smethwick school on Wednesday. I doubt Smethwick has ever seen anything like this before! Hope I don’t get stage fright.’

31st September 2010:

‘I feel inspired after yesterday, actually meeting the people involved makes it feel real. Such a treat to go up on the Stiperstones with people who have never been there before. This project seems to be generating good feeling and positive energy.’
