An update from Hayley Seddon of Birmingham Repertory Theatre’s production team on The Caravan Challenge…
We’ve taken delivery of four caravans which we’re going to be adapting this week ready for our October production of Eat. Here’s our plan of action…
Remove all the fixtures
Eat! might be a small-scale, intimate performance, but we still need to make space for the performers and audiences!
Improve the access
Everybody should be able to enjoy the show, including wheelchair users.
Make them beautiful
We need to turn these rather ugly caravans into a packed library and a beautiful wedding venue to name just two. The audience will visit each caravan in turn to get the full Eat story.
Keep them roadworthy
After the Birmingham performances the show will be going on tour, so we’ve got to be careful not to make them too heavy or change the underlying structure too much.
So that’s our caravan challenge. Top Gear eat your heart out! These are the ‘before’ pictures. If you want to see the ‘after’ pictures you’ll have to come and see the show!
