Eat! Feasting, Fasting and Food for Thought

Black Country Touring and Birmingham Rep in Association with Foursight Theatre Present – Eat! A brand new production for Autumn 2012 & Spring 2013.

“That loaf of bread lasted for 3 weeks….so this women, when she gets a bit of the bread…she puts it in her mouth, she has a taste, she gets the flavour out of it and then she separates it and gives it to her two children, like a bird taking it out of her beak for her children.”

Mirsad Salokavich, survivor of the Bosnian War

Over the last six months dozens of stories about food have been gathered from across the West Midlands by Black Country Touring and Birmingham Rep for a new play, Eat! Inspired by stories of war, poverty, celebrations, feasts, famines and fasts, Eat! will put food at the centre of the story.

Eat! will be an intimate and unique theatre experience taking place from 18 – 27 October in a cluster of creatively transformed caravans situated in the courtyard of the Roundhouse on Sheepcote Street.

To book tickets for the October performances visit www.birmingham-rep.co.uk or call box office on 0121 236 4455.

We are still collecting stories – to share your story and recipes go to www.birmingham-rep.co.uk/eat. It’ll inspire our creative process and might even feature in the show!
