AL BOWLLY’S CROON MANIFESTO

Fri 24th June 1.30pm
Sat 25th June 7.30pm

Newhampton Arts Centre

Roll up the carpet and push back the chairs for a rip-roaring evening of live music, theatre, humour and dance celebrating the life of Britain’s greatest singer of the dance band era.

Untied Artists and The Gramophone Party tell the roller-coaster story of 1930’s crooner Al Bowlly who redefined singing into the tender, expressive style that paved the way for pop. After a show which combines theatre, comedy and a live jazz band, you are invited to put on your dancing shoes or relax in our cabaret setting and enjoy the band playing hits of the 30s and 40s.

Bowlly was an inspiration to generations of singers and artists, his songs have featured in the cult films Amelie, The Shining and Dennis Potter’s Pennies From Heaven. Featuring hits like ‘The Very Thought Of You’, ‘Love is the Sweetest Thing’, we promise an evening to remember. Wear the gladdest of your gladrags and after the show, dance the night away as the band plays on.

Tickets £6 / £5 concessions (includes a cup of tea at the afternoon show)

Newhampton Arts Centre, Dunkley St,
